When we created Wilson Spirit we developed a passion mindset.
Not passion in the bedroom sense, passion for who we are and what motivates us or brings us joy.
We have worked for different organisations like Cadbury/Mondelez, Fujitsu, Boots, mid-tier accountancy firms, a private equity run company and a small regional recruitment company and have cultivated a variety of skills between us, here’s a brief overview/list:
· Coaching
· HR
· People Management
· Teaching
· L&D
· Recruitment
· Meter Reading
· Retail Management
· Sunshop Consultant
· Holistic Therapist
· Paddle boarding
· Renovating a cottage on the coast
So, when we decided to walk away from our corporate roles and create a business doing what we love and fulfilling our purpose, it was pretty challenging. Which of these skills should we use, who should we work with and how? Should we do everything and see what sticks? Should we become a niche offering? So many questions!
To answer these questions, we thought about what REALLY matters to us, what are we REALLY passionate about.
That is when we created if it's not an 8 it will have to wait.
We went through all of our ideas for a business and gave them a passion rating...you’ve got the gist now, if it was lower than an 8 it was just going to have to wait.
Why aim low when creating something you love? Aim high and go with what brings you joy and passion – seems to be working out for us so far and it's one of the techniques we use with our coaching clients too.
How could you use this in your life?
Are you trying to make a decision about your next career move, joining a new course, starting a new exercise programme – whatever you’re on the verge of doing or thinking about – REALLY think about how passionate you are about it.
Is it higher than an 8 – then why wait?
